INTERSPORT - «We reach the edge»
Intro
INTERSPORT, the worldwide leading chain of sports goods, has been operating in Greece since 2000 and its network consists of over 45 stores throughout the country. Its mission is to bring sports into the lives of people, while its role is to offer the products and the means to make this possible. We developed a CSR program aiming to instill the athletic values, especially to children who have no or very little access to sports’ facilities
Challenge
The client requested a CSR program in order to become relevant to the Greek family during the financial crisis, always abiding to its corporate values and objectives.
Solution
We proposed and carried out a roadshow in Greek public schools in remote and distant villages and cities, during which INTERSPORT’s mobile van reaches the geographical “edges” of Greece. Through the distribution of free sports’ equipment the company creates the necessary conditions for children to have access to sports, while through the educational speeches by known and respected athletes, regarding the importance of sports to school children, kids are inspired and motivated to become involved with sports. Via this program, which started in 2011, the children are asked to reach their own “edges”/ limits through sports; to train so as to improve their performance, to take advantage of their capabilities, but most of all to love exercise and include it in their everyday lives.
Outcome
In the first 5 years, INTERSPORT’s mobile unit has visited over 135 public elementary schools in remote areas in Greece, contacting over 15,000 students, while over 250 articles and 9 TV reportages have covered this CSR initiative. Over 65 athletes have taken part in this unique program, while we have collaborated with 47 Municipalities across the country.
